Curriculum control
The question from our community:
What is your position on educators controlling curriculum vs parents?
The curriculum is not controlled by any single member or group. It is the responsibility of our educators to thoroughly understand the curriculum guidelines and develop instructional plans that provide our students with the most effective methods for mastering the subject matter.
Teachers help mold our children and prepare them to succeed in life. We trust our teachers but also believe that parents have the right to be informed about what their children are learning, including access to instructional materials. They should also feel welcome to discuss any concerns with educators and allow for a two-way conversation. Our educators have a duty to be well-versed in the curriculum, enabling them to explain the rationale behind the selection of specific materials and teaching strategies. This transparency ensures that parents are informed and confident in the education their children are receiving and allows autonomy for educators in ensuring children are meeting educational goals.
