You Asked.We Responded.

Why the Y?
In Marlboro Township, a vital program providing before and after school care for hundreds of children has been thrown into disarray, exposing a web of intentional deceptions by the Board of Education.

SEL and DEI
For those who may see this topic from one perspective, we want to share some research we did to understand the history of SEL and DEI. These concepts are not new and didn’t just appear during COVID.

Before and After Care – YMCA
Including your note to us, we have heard from a number of people about the issues with YMCA, including the cost and lack of communication, transparency and outreach to the community.

Campaigning with politicians
Absolutely not. Politics has no place in the daily business of the Board of Education. We firmly believe that education should remain a non-partisan space dedicated solely to the best interests of our students.

Admin and teacher pay increase gap
Pay should reflect the duties and contributions of all school staff, including both teachers and administrators. It’s important to make sure teachers, who directly impact students’ learning, are fairly paid for their work.

Superintendent bonuses
We believe superintendent bonuses, like any performance-based incentives, should be well thought out and based on measurable outcomes that help students and the school community. The criteria should be clear to everyone, ensuring the bonuses are fair and in the best interests of the students and the district.

Political beliefs in schools
We think schools should be neutral and welcoming spaces where students feel safe sharing their own thoughts and beliefs. Teachers, like everyone, have their personal political views, but it’s crucial they stay professional and impartial in the classroom.

About informed parents
Parents play a crucial role in the success of our students, and it is essential that they are fully engaged and informed about their child’s education. Every parent has the right to know what their child is learning, the teaching tools being utilized, details of assemblies, and any incidents that may occur during the school day.

Book banning
Book banning is one of the most common forms of censorship. If there are any concerns about materials available to students as they may not be age appropriate or contain pornographic material, it’s important for the Board, educators, and parents to come together to review the content and make sound decisions.

Curriculum control
The curriculum is not controlled by any single member or group. It is the responsibility of our educators to thoroughly understand the curriculum guidelines and develop instructional plans that provide our students with the most effective methods for mastering the subject matter.

To summarize:

Are teachers unchecked?
Before beginning this campaign, we listened to people in the community, including parents, former board members and MTPS employees. While our website says that MTPS administrators and staff were being left unchecked, we can see why staff could be read to include teachers.

Our view on policy 5756
We understand the intent of Policy 5756 to balance parental rights with student safety, but the ongoing legal battle is proving to be a costly and divisive distraction. This fight is draining resources and Board energy that could be better spent on our core mission—education—and ultimately, it’s the taxpayers and students who bear the burden.
